Tres Estrellas if there are good free upgrades soon
I bought version 1.0 of this App for $14.99. I have been using this app for a few days now and I am little bit upset that I spent that much for what I received. I am an advance Spanish student, so maybe I am asking for too much.
Lo Bueno (The Good)
It is nice looking. I like the colors and the icon is great. I like the quiz mode most useful section of the app. This is was very important, it saves where you left off if you leave the app. I left the app to look up a word with Ultralingua’s iPhone Spanish Dictionary and I returned to AS Spanish and was happily surprised that it was exactly where I left it. Something that I am proud of the developer is that this App is localized in Spanish. That is great for English learners. This App is good for a beginner to Spanish.
Lo Malo (The Bad)
In order to improve the app the Developer needs to know details about this app. There are a lot of things that this app needs to do/have in order to be worth $15 dollars, because currently this app is worth $4 and only for beginners. Gender articles are needed with the words (ej. El, La), Study mode and flash card modes could be combined into one mode, quiz mode is very easy between the choices not all but lots of the questions (maybe include a difficulty level), maybe add a spelling mode spell the vocabulary, get rid of the pyramid icon on the cards it takes you to the site that has hardly nothing on it you can put your link under the info panel or settings, instead you can replace it with a memorized button, it doesn’t seem that this app save which words you know and which ones you don’t, there are no statistics to let you know your progress, in quiz mode why does the auto-advance stop at the last card and not at the results page (one must push the check mark to see result page), pronunciation for the words would be nice especially for other language that have weird pronunciation rules (maybe that feature would require an internet connection in order to keep your app under 10 megs), under categories why can’t one see the list of words, 1,200 words doesn’t seem like a lot when basic dictionary has thousands of words (even if you take out the verbs). This is not a very good tool or game to learn Spanish, but it has A LOT of potential and I hope the developer takes advantage of it. Don’t focus on dictionary, verbs, user input cards, I would only focus on the vocabulary and all ways to learn it. Don’t turn into another one of those Spanish Phrase programs.
I really hope for free updates soon, because this App can not succeed as it currently stands. Also, give Apple your developer feedback and request that they provide a way for demoware and video previews of your Apps. Saludos
