Learn Spanish - AccelaStudy® App Reviews

Hum, hum...

Well, this could be such a great program, if, oh if, it only had: 1. More vocabulary (I know, theres supposedly more to come, but when? If its gonna take a few months, well, than its a bit worthless, because Id have to take a break in my learning and wait a few months so I can continue studying), 2. But most importantly, this software misses the most essential function, the ability to mark words as learned. At the moment, I have to revise and revise words again and again, even if I know them already well. This not only slows down the learning process, since youre spending time on revising words you already know, but its also demotivating. Anyway, if you compare this program to the "Loro" spanish program, it only holds up well because its interface looks more professional (but I actually prefer the "Loro" one, since once you mark a word as "learned" or "not learned", the next word appears. With this program, you have to swipe to see the next word). But exempt for that, the "Loro" program is a much more satisfying experience. You can mark words as read, it repeats words you havent learned yet at regular intervals, and it even pronounces the words (though that is not a functionality that is very important to me). And the "Loro" program has almost as many words as this one and costs less (Oh yeah, and their conjugation trainer is ingenious. Same way of function and it costs like 2 bucks!) Anyway, the point Im trying to make is that this program could be better. But to be better it has to have the same functionalities as "Loro" and have more words. Once thats the case, Ill change my rating from 2 stars to 4, maybe even 5. But at the moment, it just is a pain to learn with this program. Hope the promised changes will arrive soon. P.P.S.: This software is driving me mad. I was just revising a collection of 600 words. I was about halfway through when I got an sms and quit the program to answer it. When I opened this program again, I was back of the beginning of my six hundred words. There doesnt seem to be a way to skip through the words, so either you start revising from the start or you have to flip, painstakingly from one word to the next, 300 times in my case, to be able to continue learning... that is, if you dont get an important message you have to answer before you even get through the 300 words... Anyway, this makes this program that painstaking that Ive decided to downgrade it to one star. Hope all these issues will be adressed soon so I can go back up to 4, or 5.

Its okay

Flash cards are great, but as a learning system... Its not. There are categories but no skill levels. The quizes dont puck solely from categories youve studied. Also, it would be nice to tag flashcards youve had trouble with..... Why go through all two hundred words Ive been learning when theres only a few Ive been forgetting? Great for a later refresher but a time waster for right now.

Super App.

Great app to grasp the spanish language. Intuitive, nice interface. 5 Stars

Accela Spanish -terrible

This is just a dictionary, parroting individual words with no context. I am so angry that I spent money on it! It is not a Spanish tutorial at all.

Great app for vocabulary learning

I really like this app. It helps me to learn and repeat a lot of words. As I use it every day I have several suggestions for further improvements :) It would be great to have auto mode for cards. I would chose comfortable speed and listen my focus vocabulary without need to page it. Please consider including all the words in sort of reference with possibility to correct words or add new cards. For example you state that ABAJO is both DOWN and UNDER. Are you sure? Thank you for your time!

Would be a lot better with sound.

Title says it all.

oh well

I was throughly disappointed to find out that this program doesnt actually say the words for you.

Not impressed

Not worth 15 bucks - its basically 1000 random flash cards. Its not structured in any real way and not useful as a translator either. Hopefully someone will put out some good spanish ed aps soon.

Depending on what youy need.

If you saw this and thought it could be a study guide, not so good. If you wanted to use this to brush up on your Spanish, thumbs up.

Tres Estrellas if there are good free upgrades soon

I bought version 1.0 of this App for $14.99. I have been using this app for a few days now and I am little bit upset that I spent that much for what I received. I am an advance Spanish student, so maybe I am asking for too much. Lo Bueno (The Good) It is nice looking. I like the colors and the icon is great. I like the quiz mode most useful section of the app. This is was very important, it saves where you left off if you leave the app. I left the app to look up a word with Ultralingua’s iPhone Spanish Dictionary and I returned to AS Spanish and was happily surprised that it was exactly where I left it. Something that I am proud of the developer is that this App is localized in Spanish. That is great for English learners. This App is good for a beginner to Spanish. Lo Malo (The Bad) In order to improve the app the Developer needs to know details about this app. There are a lot of things that this app needs to do/have in order to be worth $15 dollars, because currently this app is worth $4 and only for beginners. Gender articles are needed with the words (ej. El, La), Study mode and flash card modes could be combined into one mode, quiz mode is very easy between the choices not all but lots of the questions (maybe include a difficulty level), maybe add a spelling mode spell the vocabulary, get rid of the pyramid icon on the cards it takes you to the site that has hardly nothing on it you can put your link under the info panel or settings, instead you can replace it with a memorized button, it doesn’t seem that this app save which words you know and which ones you don’t, there are no statistics to let you know your progress, in quiz mode why does the auto-advance stop at the last card and not at the results page (one must push the check mark to see result page), pronunciation for the words would be nice especially for other language that have weird pronunciation rules (maybe that feature would require an internet connection in order to keep your app under 10 megs), under categories why can’t one see the list of words, 1,200 words doesn’t seem like a lot when basic dictionary has thousands of words (even if you take out the verbs). This is not a very good tool or game to learn Spanish, but it has A LOT of potential and I hope the developer takes advantage of it. Don’t focus on dictionary, verbs, user input cards, I would only focus on the vocabulary and all ways to learn it. Don’t turn into another one of those Spanish Phrase programs. I really hope for free updates soon, because this App can not succeed as it currently stands. Also, give Apple your developer feedback and request that they provide a way for demoware and video previews of your Apps. Saludos

Wasnt what I thought

I give it one star the point of learning Spanish Is so they can understand when we speak and vice-versa but we would need to hear the words so we can prnounce them and this app doesnt do that... Very disappointing...

Stop do not buy

This program does not have any audio and has know use to me and is by know means worth $15.00

Needs work

I give it one star. It has potential if it adds voice, thousands of more words, gramatical structures and articles and verb tenses... If they dont update soon, this APP will soon be in the "Where are they now?" file.

Crap for the price

A note to developers... Please make good on this deal! Add words and features or something. Cant recommend this app at this time.

Anyone know when the updates are coming for this app?

Helpful, not very interactive. No pronunciation of words and no pics associated with words. I would like to interact with others who speak spanish as well. Like a conversation app.

Worth The Price

I just wanted to say I love this app and the approach that the developers are taking in order to make it even better. They seem to have their finger on the pulse of what we all want to see in future updates. I have a few other languages from them and Im fully enjoying them. Theres a reason the price is $15: they arent just creating an app and then just leaving it alone. The price covers the kind of quality updates 90% of the developers dont, or wont, do.

The best yet.

Im really looking forward to this software leading the way with an Intergrated conjugation of verbs quiz similar to the current quiz option. Proper conjugation is important and the structure of the game makes it a superior product when learning. I would gladly fork over more money if a verb program was developed with the concepts in mind-------cheers Dboy

Love it

Like how I can swipe the flashcards the same way I can photos, and how they turn over to show the contents. Good use of iPhone interface. This is a great tool to help build my vocab. I would have given it 4 stars for not having enough vocabulary, but am giving 5 because of the expectation set by the developer that many more words are coming. One possible improvement: I really like Quiz mode, but it is a lot of clicks and not too intuitive to have to go choose Quiz mode again and change the number of questions in the Quiz to actually generate a new one. After the 10th of 10 or 20th of 20 questions, why not just pop up another window that says "Do you want to take another Quiz?" and if the person says yes just immediately generate another quiz with the same number of questions?

Next available update?????

Ive had this app since late 2008 and Im STILL waiting for the audio support. Wasnt it suppose to be out in December? Its february people!

Only oppens one time.. App quits

After downloading the app will only oppen one time... After that it never makes it past "loading" before closing out. Please fix bug I miss this app :( Also... It cost $$ that I was happy to pay? Come on now!!
